Out of State Residents

Out-of-State Residents

If you are an out of state resident who:

• Works in Massachusetts
• Is a student in Massachusetts
• Owns property in Massachusetts
• Is temporarily living in Massachusetts for more than two months

You may get a Minuteman card. Your card will be set to expire in one year and will need to be updated annually.

You will need to bring:

• Photo ID
• Proof of home/permanent address
• Other ID:
  • Property owners: tax bill, utility bill, etc
  • Students: School ID, proof of school address
  • People who work in Massachusetts: work address

Out-of-State residents who do not meet any of the above criteria:

• May use materials inside the library without a library card
• May obtain a borrower’s card with the following:
  • Annual payment of $25.00
  • Photo ID
  • Proof of Current Address
• Card will be set to expire one year from date of registration and will need to be updated annually. This card can be used only in Brookline. Other MLN libraries are not bound to accept it. A note to that effect will be added to your borrower record.
